It is noted that residents of the settlement of Volchanets in Primorsky Krai recorded a column of smoke in the waters of the Russian Federation. Eyewitnesses saw warships near the explosion site. There are currently no official comments from the Russian government or the fleet command.

At the same time, the Ukrainian portal “Military” does not rule out that the explosion may be related to the exercises of the Russian Pacific Fleet on August 20, which involved the missile cruiser “Varyag”, the nuclear submarine “Omsk” and the coastal missile complex “Bastion”.

The Omsk deep modernization project involves replacing the existing 24 launchers with universal installations capable of carrying up to 72 Kalibr, Onyx or Zircon missiles. Currently, according to the course of the exercises, Omsk has retained its original configuration, firing salvos of P-700 Granit anti-ship cruise missiles.
