According to our sources in the intelligence service, at least four hits on the oil platform were recorded.
Troops from the Security Service of Ukraine’s Alpha Special Operations Center used drones to strike the Filanovsky oil platform, owned by Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft, shutting down production at dozens of wells.
A source in the intelligence service told UNIAN about this.
It is noted that this is Ukraine’s first defeat of Russian infrastructure related to oil production in the Caspian Sea.
“At least four hits on the offshore platform were recorded. The attack halted oil and gas production from more than 20 wells it services,” the sources noted.
The Filanovsky field is one of the largest explored fields in Russia and the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea. Its reserves amount to 129 million tons of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas.
“The ‘Cotton’ operation in the Caspian Sea is yet another reminder from Russia that all its enterprises operating for war are legitimate targets, no matter where they are located,” our source in the intelligence service noted.
