The increase in defense spending is planned to be achieved through revenues from previously introduced tariffs on other countries.

US President Donald Trump called for increasing the country’s defense budget to $1.5 trillion in 2027. The US defense budget for 2026 is approximately $1 trillion, according to his Facebook post .

“After lengthy and difficult negotiations with Senators, Representatives, Secretaries, and other political representatives, I have determined that for the good of our Nation, especially in these very turbulent and dangerous times, our 2027 military budget should be not $1 trillion, but rather $1.5 trillion,” Trump said.

He believes this will allow America to build a “Dream Army” that will provide the United States with protection and security, despite its adversaries.

As the US President emphasized, defense spending could easily be increased to $1.5 trillion thanks to the tariffs imposed and the significant revenues generated from them.
