US officials want Europe to take over most of NATO’s defense capabilities , from intelligence to missiles, by 2027 .
According to Reuters , citing sources, Pentagon officials made this statement at a meeting with several European delegations. “Shifting this burden from the United States to European members will radically change how Washington cooperates with its most important military partners,” the publication wrote.
Journalists noted that at the meeting, Pentagon representatives stated that Washington is not yet satisfied with Europe’s progress in increasing its defense potential.
