The upgraded Sea Baby marine drones successfully deployed to ships.

Sea Baby naval drones of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) struck two sanctioned oil tankers, KAIRO and VIRAT, belonging to Russia’s “shadow fleet” in the Black Sea. Sources in the security service told UNIAN that this was a joint operation between the 13th Main Directorate of Military Counterintelligence of the SBU and the Ukrainian Navy.

According to the source, upgraded Sea Baby naval drones have successfully deployed against ships. They can cover long distances and are equipped with enhanced warheads.

The video shows that both tankers were critically damaged after the hits and are effectively out of service. This will deal a significant blow to Russian oil transportation.

It was also noted that at the time of the attack, the sanctioned vessels were empty—they were heading to the port of Novorossiysk for loading.Read also:

“The SBU continues to actively curtail Russia’s financial ability to wage war against Ukraine. Sea Baby naval drones disabled vessels that could have been transporting nearly $70 million worth of oil and were helping the Kremlin circumvent international sanctions,” a well-informed SBU source reported.

The SBU struck two tankers belonging to Russia’s “shadow fleet.”

Attack on a Russian ship

As UNIAN reported, on November 25, members of the SBU’s Alpha Special Operations Center, together with the Security and Defense Forces, used long-range drones to strike several military and logistics facilities at the Novorossiysk seaport in Krasnodar Krai, Russia. Novorossiysk is Russia’s second-largest oil export hub and the main base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

As a result, a hit was recorded on the infrastructure of the oil terminal (oil loading arms and manifolds) and on the positions of the S-300/S-400 air defense systems.

A large Project 1171 landing ship , which was at the pier of the naval base, was also damaged.

  1. I am glad they are going after these sanction busting tankers. at a minimum it will raise their insurance premiums and cut into the company’s profit margins which will mean the owners will pay less for the Russian oil and the buyers will demand price brakes.
What I would really like to see is the Ukraine Navy revive the proud of commerce raiding. buy a freighter and modify it to carry their navel drones and it out to target the shadow fleet ships wherever they may be.
Sink a few tankers in the Pacific and Indian oceans and we will see how much oil Putin can sell.
