This is usually done before the start of a military operation – training or combat.
The United States is closing the airspace over and around Venezuela to civilian flights. President Donald Trump made the announcement on the social media platform TruthSocial .

“To all airlines, pilots, drug traffickers, and human traffickers, please consider the airspace over and around Venezuela completely off-limits,” the American leader wrote.
He offered no other explanation. The closure of the skies could indicate the imminent start of a large-scale military operation in the region. This is precisely what happened at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and during the recent clashes between Iran and Israel.
Tensions around Venezuela
As UNIAN reported, tensions in the already tense relations between the US and Venezuela have escalated over the past four months. Washington announced a reward for assistance in the arrest of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro and began deploying its navy to Venezuela’s shores .
Over the past few weeks, the US military has destroyed several vessels off the Venezuelan coast allegedly carrying drugs. However, American media, citing sources, report that Trump’s real intention is to overthrow the Maduro regime .
The Venezuelan dictator himself has already begun begging Russia, Iran, and China for help , but so far it does not appear that he has received any significant support from his friends in the autocratic camp.
