The vessels were used, in particular, to supply fuels and lubricants to Russian military groups.

On the night of July 9, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck a number of important military and military-economic targets of the enemy. As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular, 12 tankers, one tugboat and one dry cargo ship of the Russian Federation were hit in the waters of the Sea of Azov. The extent of the damage and the results of the strike are being clarified.
It is noted that the affected vessels were used, in particular, to supply fuel and lubricants to the Russian Federation’s military groups, as well as to transport oil and petroleum products in circumvention of international sanctions. They ensure the export of energy resources, which is one of the key sources of financing the war against Ukraine.
The General Staff also informed that the Yug Rusy oil terminal in Bataysk (Rostov Oblast, Russian Federation) was damaged. A fire was recorded in the area of the enterprise.
“The specified facility provides transshipment of petroleum products for export and is used to provide fuel and lubricants to the Russian military groups in the southern direction, as well as to receive foreign exchange earnings that are used to finance the armed aggression against Ukraine. An enemy ammunition depot in the Sorokyne area of Luhansk region was also hit,” the report says.
