Currently, the country is experiencing disruptions to train and air travel.
The popular tourist country of Spain was hit by transport chaos due to a large-scale blackout that occurred this afternoon.

According to the Spanish newspaper ABC , air traffic in the country is currently operating at “half capacity.” Takeoffs and landings are currently possible, although the telegates are not working. Arrivals and departures boards at airports, including El Prat in Barcelona and Madrid airport, show delays of up to an hour.
Meanwhile, Spain’s rail network has been severely affected, with initial reports suggesting passengers trapped in tunnels are being evacuated on foot. Train operator Renfe has stopped trains from entering and leaving stations. An unknown number of people are trapped in lifts at stations.
The Madrid Metro has also suspended its operations and advised people to seek alternative means of transport, such as buses.
It is not yet known how badly transport services in Portugal, which was also hit by the Spanish blackout, have been affected. However, according to Publico , metro services in Lisbon and Porto have been halted, with passengers stranded in trains. Meanwhile, the airports of Lisbon, Porto and Faro have switched to backup generators.
It can be assumed that problems with transport connections will gradually increase, as new delays and cancellations will provoke even greater congestion.
As UNIAN previously reported, on the afternoon of April 28, 2025, Spain and Portugal were paralyzed by a large-scale power outage . It also affected certain regions of France.
