Russian agricultural exports through key ports may be halted.

Russia’s two largest grain terminals in the southern port of Novorossiysk have suspended operations following overnight strikes by Ukrainian drones,  industry sources told Reuters .

Russia is currently the world’s largest exporter of wheat, with much of that exported through its Black Sea ports, such as Novorossiysk. Local grain industry experts warned last month that Ukrainian drone attacks could halt Russian grain exports across the Black Sea in the near future.

One of the grain terminals in Novorossiysk, which has an export capacity of 8.5 million metric tons per year, has suspended operations and is currently assessing the damage, sources said. A spokesman for Demetra Holding, which owns the terminal, said only that the terminal suffered unspecified damage and declined to comment further.

Another large grain terminal, Novorossiysk Bread Plant, with an export capacity of 7.1 million metric tons per year, was also damaged and suspended operations, the sources said. OZK, its main owner, said the terminal was damaged and that no one was injured. The company promised to provide additional information as it became available.

In addition to grain export terminals, Novorossiysk is also home to oil export infrastructure, particularly for the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), which is partly owned by American oil giants Chevron and Exxon and exports Kazakh oil to the market.

The Financial Times reported on Wednesday that Ukraine had stopped its attacks on tankers serving the CPC after a request from US Vice President J.D. Vance. There is no indication that the CPC or tankers taking oil from the pipeline were hit in the overnight attacks.
