During today’s shelling of Ukraine, the Russians used more than 650 drones and dozens of missiles, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced .

“A massive Russian attack on Ukraine has been ongoing since last night, primarily on our energy sector, on civilian infrastructure, literally on the entire infrastructure of life. There have already been more than 650 drones, and a significant part are “shaheeds”. More than three dozen missiles. As of now, an air alert regime is maintained on most of the territory of Ukraine,” he noted.

According to him, all necessary services have been involved to eliminate the consequences of the strike, but unfortunately, there are losses. In particular, a woman died in the Kyiv region from a Russian drone strike. A person is known to have died in the Khmelnytskyi region. A four-year-old child died in the Zhytomyr region – a Russian drone hit a residential building. 

“In total, at least 13 regions have already been hit. A significant part of the drones and missiles were shot down. Detailed information from the Air Force will be available later – when all the reports are received. However, there were also hits. Repair crews and energy specialists are already working to ensure the normal life of people, our cities and communities,” the head of state emphasized.

Zelensky stressed that this Russian strike signals extremely clearly about Russian priorities. 

“A strike before Christmas, when people want to just be with their families, at home, in safety. A strike actually in the midst of negotiations that are underway to end this war. Putin cannot accept the fact that we need to stop killing. And this means that the world is not putting enough pressure on Russia. We need to react now. We need to pressure Russia towards peace and guaranteed security. We must not forget that every day – both on weekdays and on holidays – Ukraine protects people’s lives. Air defense for Ukraine, financing for the purchase of weapons, the supply of energy equipment – ​​all these are processes that do not go on weekends,” the president noted.
