Ground-based air defense systems have also been placed on high alert.

On Saturday evening, September 13, Poland again scrambled fighter jets due to a new threat of Russian drone invasion . This was reported by Polsat News , citing a statement from the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.

In particular, it is reported that due to the appearance of Russian attack drones in the regions of Ukraine neighboring Poland, military aviation has begun to operate in Polish airspace. However, it is noted that these actions are preventive in nature. There have been no reports of drones flying into Polish territory.

In addition, due to the drone threat, Lublin Airport and the controlled area around the airport were closed to civil aviation. Civilian flights were reportedly prohibited for two hours – from 16:00 to 18:00 local time.

The situation was commented on by the country’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk on his page on the social network X.

“Due to the threat from Russian drones operating over Ukraine near the border with Poland, preventive operations of Polish and allied air forces have begun in our airspace. Ground-based air defense systems are on the highest alert,” he wrote.Read also:

Updated at 19.15. Meanwhile, in northern Romania, an alert has been issued due to the threat of falling Russian drone debris. As digi24 writes , residents of Tulcea County, which borders Ukraine’s Odessa Oblast, received an emergency warning on their smartphones about the threat from the sky.

According to CNN’s Antena 3 , two Romanian Air Force F-16 fighter jets were scrambled to monitor the situation in Romanian airspace.

At the same time, the military operational headquarters is trying to calm the population by assuring that Romanian territory is not the target of Russian drones.

Updated at 20.10 . Later, CNN’s Antena 3 reported that Romanian fighter jets “intercepted a Russian drone” over Romanian territory and “began pursuing it.” The article does not use the words “shot down” or “destroyed,” but claims that the drone was about 20 kilometers southwest of the village of Kiliya Veche (a village right on the border with Ukraine) when it “disappeared from radar.” The wreckage is said to have fallen in the now Ukrainian city of Kiliya, on the other side of the border.

“The drone did not fly over populated areas [in Romania] and did not pose an immediate threat to the safety of the population. At the time of publication of the press release, the situation is monitored by MApN radar systems and aircraft in the air,” the Romanian Ministry of Defense reported.

The situation has already been commented on by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He reported that the Russian drone penetrated into Romanian territory to a distance of about 10 kilometers and was in the NATO country’s airspace for about 50 minutes.

“The Russian military understands exactly where their drones are aimed, how long they can spend in the air. The routes are always calculated. This cannot be an accident, a mistake or the independent actions of some low-level commanders. This is an obvious expansion of the war by Russia, and this is exactly what they are doing. First, small steps, and eventually big losses,” the Ukrainian leader emphasized and called for a decisive response.

  1. This is good. The orcish provication will backfire, IF anyone in my hertitage country Poland has any brains, Poland simply constructs the premise that they need to move defences farther east into Ukraine to protect Poland. They should do this asap, show some strengh.

  2. The authorities also reminded the population that the territory of Romania is not the object of attacks from the Russian Federation.

“At the same time, we ask citizens to strictly adhere to the security measures transmitted by the Romanian authorities, carefully read the messages received through the RO-Alert system, avoid panic and report to the single emergency number 112 any situation that threatens their safety or if they need assistance,” the publication quotes a statement from the Tulcea Emergency Situations Inspectorate.
