BREAKING NEWS: Official: Former Mayor Trukhanov and eight officials have been charged with official negligence and face up to eight years in prison.

Former mayor Gennady Trukhanov faces up to eight years in prison for official negligence.

Eight other defendants were also charged under the same article: two of Trukhanov’s deputies, the directors of the city economy and municipal guard departments, the head of a structural subdivision, and two chief engineers of the City Roads municipal enterprise, law enforcement officials reported.

The question of choosing a preventive measure for the suspects under Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code and the suspension of current officials from work is being decided.

According to Dumskaya, the persons in question are Deputy Mayor Anna Pozdnyakova, Director of the Department of Municipal Services Leonid Grebenyuk, and Head of the Municipal Enterprise “City Roads” Vadim Todiychuk.

The investigation revealed that the city’s storm sewer system was not properly maintained. Residents were also not notified of the emergency. These factors led to the deaths of nine people , including a child.

Police conducted approximately 25 searches of administrative buildings and residences of the defendants. Documents, computers, mobile phones, and draft notes were seized.

As a reminder, on September 30, a heavy rain hit Odessa. Five people, including a child, died in a house in the Kyivskyi district. The bodies of four more were found on the street .

  1. Is “negligence” the biggest crime? I’m not at all familiar in what this mayor did that required loss of citizenship (I know he held a Russian passport which is not legal) and in reading the media I thought this guy was Satan reincarnated. I tried to understand but my brain neurons staged a walkout.

    • He is deeply corrupt. Under his tenure, Odesa has been one of the most corrupt cities in Ukraine.
