Problems with electricity supply are also observed in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.

Russian occupiers attacked Odesa and the Odesa region with missiles and drones, and the strikes have resulted in the loss of heat, water, and electricity. Military and political observer Oleksandr Kovalenko noted that this was the most massive attack on the region, and the regional capital in particular, since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Russians launch massive attacks on Odessa
As reported by a UNIAN correspondent, the enemy has been launching a massive missile and drone attack on the Odesa region since last night. According to monitoring channels, aerial attacks have been detected in various areas of Odesa and the region. Explosions and gunfire have been heard in Odesa for hours.
Odesa residents who can afford it are taking shelter in parking lots, basements, and the like. The city is without power, heat, and water. There are also interruptions in mobile phone service, among other things. The extent of the consequences is still unknown; the Ministry of Defense promises to provide details “when the security situation allows.”
The attack knocked out power to energy infrastructure facilities.
Later, the head of the Odessa MVA, Serhiy Lysak, clarified that as a result of the massive attack on Odessa, power infrastructure facilities were knocked out. Most of the city is without heat and water. According to preliminary reports, two people were injured in the city.
Lysak noted that indestructibility points are open, and gadgets can also be recharged at stores in the Tavria-V, Obzhora, Tochka, Kopeyka, and Silpo chains.
“I ask businesses not to close and to meet our people halfway,” Lysak emphasized.
According to him, city hospitals have been converted to autonomous operation using alternative power sources. Pump rooms are powered by generators, and the city has organized a water supply system for industrial water delivery to the districts.
The Izmail District State Administration (southern Odessa Oblast) stated that as a result of the air strike, settlements in the Vilkivska, Kiliya, Katlabuzhska, and Safyanivska communities, as well as part of the city of Izmail, were left without power.
The head of the Odessa Regional State Administration, Oleh Kiper, stated that the Odessa region is experiencing one of the most massive air attacks.
“During the night, there was damage to civilian facilities, energy, and industrial infrastructure. The strikes caused fires, and administrative buildings and energy facilities were damaged. Rescuers are working to address the aftermath. Power outages are being experienced in some areas of the region,” the official stated.
Firefighters spent the entire night extinguishing the fires.
According to the regional press service of the State Emergency Service , Russia has continued to strike critical and civilian infrastructure in the Odesa region since yesterday. Firefighters spent the night extinguishing fires caused by the strikes. Despite constant air raid alerts, rescuers extinguished a large-scale fire on a civilian aircraft.
As a result of the attack, fires broke out at energy infrastructure facilities and textile warehouses during the night and morning.
Residential buildings, an administrative building, civilian vehicles, and a fire truck were also damaged. According to preliminary information, four people were injured in the region.
More than 100 firefighters were deployed by the State Emergency Service to eliminate the consequences of the disaster.
Russia may have used the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missile for the first time in the Odessa region.
Military and political observer Alexander Kovalenko commented on the attack on the region :
“Odesa is tough… The last time there was such an intense missile threat was in 2023, when the grain terror was carried out. Incidentally, that’s when they promised to strengthen Odessa’s missile defense… Yeah, right… We remember, we remember, we remember…”
He also said that the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missile flew over the Odessa region for the first time.
“Without exaggeration, this is the largest raid on Odessa and the surrounding region since the start of the full-scale invasion. At the same time, the complex problem of the region’s vulnerability from the sea, which the enemy has regularly exploited, but on a smaller scale, and which has not been properly addressed, despite numerous promises and announcements, has become fully evident today,” the analyst emphasized.
Due to the shelling, train traffic may be delayed, and tram and trolleybus service has been suspended.
The Odesa Railway branch reported that due to the security situation in the Odesa region, train delays are possible. Several commuter trains will be temporarily suspended in the region today. Specifically:
- No. 6253 Podolsk – Odessa-Main;
- №6255 Vapnyarka – Odessa-Main.
- №6342/6341 Karolino-Butaz – Odessa-Main.
Also today, train No. 6403 Martynovskaya – Kolosovka (instead of Martynovskaya – Odessa-Glavnaya) ran on a changed route.
According to Lysak , the attack left all of the city’s traction substations without power, and tram and trolleybus service was suspended. He instructed motor carriers to increase the number of buses on city routes. A shuttle bus service was organized to ensure service:
- along tram route No. 1 – from the Railway Station to 28th Brigada Street (interval 30-40 min);
- by tram route No. 5 – from the railway station to Arcadia (via French Boulevard, interval about an hour);
- On tram routes No. 17, 18 and 20, buses run at intervals of up to 1 hour.

Trolleybuses are also suspended. Experts are currently assessing the extent of damage to power facilities and conducting emergency restoration operations. As a reminder, the Russian army struck Odesa and the surrounding region on the afternoon of December 12, damaging two ports . At the Odesa port, a private company employee was injured, and a container handling machine was damaged. At the Chornomorsk port, a Turkish-flagged ferry was hit, causing a fire on board. The condition of the facilities and vessels is being assessed.
A few hours later, in the evening, the enemy again attacked the Odessa region. A port infrastructure facility was damaged again—this was the second attack on this facility in one day.
