Judging by the uniforms of the people on the Russian side, it was clear that they were not border guards, they say in Estonia.

On the evening of October 10, a large group of armed men was spotted moving along the Estonian -Russian border. As a result, the Police and Border Guard Board temporarily closed the so-called Saatse Boot on Estonia’s eastern border, ERR reports .

The Department also showed footage showing seven armed men on the road. The decision to close the road, which partially passes through Russia’s Pskov Region, was made to prevent potential provocations and incidents.

“On Friday, October 10, our patrols observed significantly more activity than usual on the Russian side in the Saatse area throughout the day. We observed various armed groups moving along the border and in its immediate vicinity. Judging by their uniforms, it was clear they were not border guards,” said Meelis Saarepuu, Head of the Border Guard Bureau of the Liuna Prefecture of the Police and Border Guard Board.

He added that these groups moved out onto the road starting at 3:00 PM. While they initially moved along the road, at some point they simply decided to line up across it.

“This was a clear danger for us. We began stopping cars on both sides of the Saatse Boot, explaining the situation and warning them about patrols in the area. Most drivers continued driving, and some turned around,” Saarepu continued.

When the Estonian Border Guard requested information from the Russian side about what was happening in their area, they responded that these were “completely routine events.”
