During talks in Geneva, European countries proposed returning Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to the Group of Eight (G8) format, The Telegraph reports .
The publication clarifies that this could occur as part of a potential peace agreement on Ukraine. Negotiators shared that one of the points in the proposed package was the restoration of Russia’s presence in the G8. Notably, Russia was excluded from this formula in 2017 following the occupation of Crimea.
The article notes that this proposal is part of a broader list of concessions that European leaders have drawn up in response to the US-Russian plan to resolve the war in Ukraine, which was released this week.
Notably, the document drafted by European leaders and British representatives also mentions the possibility of “the gradual reintegration of Russia into the global economy.” Specifically, the return of the aggressor country to the G8 is named as one possible element of such a process.

I don’t know where the Telegraph are getting this news from, but the EU/Ukraine peace deal mentions nothing whatsoever about russia returning to G8.
Then, if true, they have learned nothing at all.
