The United States demanded an end to strikes on Russian oil refineries.
The Trump administration threatened senior Ukrainian officials, demanding they stop attacking Russian oil refineries, The Kyiv Independent reported, citing Ukrainian officials.
One of them said that the American side called Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa, who is responsible for military matters, and Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Mykhailo Drapatoy. Palisa confirmed to the Financial Times that he had received threats from the Trump administration.
Sources told reporters that the US administration made it clear to Ukrainian officials that if attacks on Russian energy infrastructure were carried out during the recently announced ceasefire, Washington would hold Kyiv responsible.
“They called all the senior military officials and made threats. They told everyone they would shut down both intelligence sharing and PURL,” one Ukrainian official told reporters.
The publication explained that the threats came within 48 hours of US President Trump announcing a controversial “agreement” with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the import of Russian diesel fuel.
Several senior Ukrainian officials told The Kyiv Independent that Kyiv was not warned about Trump’s announcement of an energy ceasefire on October 11. Following this announcement, Ukrainian officials were “pressured to observe the ceasefire and refrain from attacks on Russian oil refineries.”
