Gregory Meeks, a Democrat and member of the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, has introduced a bipartisan bill aimed at blocking the US-russia agreement on diesel fuel.
This is according to information on the website of the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee.
The bill prohibits the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) from investing in the russian energy sector; revokes general licenses issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury and prohibits future licenses; and requires the administration of US President Donald Trump to impose sanctions against the russian energy sector.
Seventeen members of the House of Representatives are listed as co-sponsors of the bill.
“This deal won’t lower costs for the American people, who are already paying for Trump’s failed war of choice in Iran. It will hand Putin millions of dollars to continue slaughtering Ukrainian civilians with impunity,” – Meeks said.
“At a time when the United States should be increasing pressure on the Kremlin, Donald Trump is cozying up to Putin and striking self-enriching deals instead of standing with Ukraine. This goes against everything the United States stands for. Congress must act. Every Member of Congress who claims to be outraged by this should join in passing this legislation,” – the politician emphasized.
Earlier, 22 US congressmen from the Democratic and Republican parties appealed to President Donald Trump, demanding that he fully and without delay impose the sanctions against russia provided for in Senator Lindsey Graham’s bill.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 16, US President Trump signed an executive order lifting certain sanctions, restrictions, and tariffs against russia provided for in the “Graham Act.”

I’m relieved some true American patriots are still alive, willing to call out trump for what he is. 👍🇺🇲💝✌️
Unfortunately, “MAGA Mike” Johnson sent the House home until after the midterm elections.
“bipartisan bill” – Of the 17 cosponsors of the bill, 16 are Democrats; only Don Bacon is a Republican. And he had announced last year that he would not seek reelection in 2026. It’s a shame that the Republicans only find a backbone after they’re no long up for election.
Relax Larry there are outstanding republicans.
Name one (alive)!
