The self destruction of the USA’s global reach will not be consequence free for the USA

Everyone else has had their take on the Donald’s recent betrayal of Ukraine, here is mine. Plus one or two other thoughts.

You don’t need to over analyse the reasons Donald has done this too much. In my view, he is being offered a cut of whatever is released and then the promise of future business deals in Russia. The most commonly cited figure of Russian frozen assets held by the USA is 6 Billion. In geo-political terms, that’s not much, it’s barely what a day of this war is costing Russia. But to a private person, a 10% cut of that is a lot of money. I seriously doubt the intelligence of anyone who thinks the Russians will abide by the terms of any business deal in Russia. The prospect of paying out an American anything will make them sick to the stomach and buy the time those deals come around, the Russians will have no motivation to stick to them.

So Donald has destroyed the credibility of the USA as an ally for a generation in exchange for what amounts to a geo-politically insignificant bribe and the promise of deals he will never see. He has also enriched the Iranians, as it’s their diesel that the Russians are playing middleman to. At the time of writing, reports say none has been sent. He also agreed to an amount that will make no difference to the pump price in the USA. Further, he has ceased all intelligence sharing with Ukrainians, making him possibly a direct accomplice to war crimes. No public mention has been made of the Russians engaging in a quid pro que and no longer sharing targeting information with the Iranians, who he is paying. So they will continue to use this information to kill US soldiers. Indeed when confronted by a journalist on it, he dismissed it as not causing much damage – as if there is a number of US soldiers that Iran can kill with Russian intelligence that he is okay with, and the number is not zero. He seems to care about as much for his own soldiers killed by Iran as he does for civilians killed by Russia.

Through it all, he continues to parrot Russian talking points to the level that the Kremlin may as well sack that woman as foreign ministry spokeswoman, send her back to her strawberry patch, and just re-post Donald’s truth social dribblings instead. There’s barely a sliver of daylight between them. People think I am joking when I say “if you want to know what Donald will say tomorrow, listen to what the Kremlin says today”. I’m not.

Meanwhile, the Party of family values sit by while this philandering buffoon “prevents communism in the USA” by publicly fellating a KGB agent. The “pro business, job creating” politicians just stand slack jawed and watch, apparently clueless as to what he is doing to their future prosperity. They seem to act as if this is all consequence free. As if “trust” has nothing to do with the value of their currency, despite the word being written on their money. Alright, their money says the only thing they have to trust in is god, but god sent his own pope cancer while Satan sent Putin a Donald.

Lindsay Graham said “if we nominate Donald Trump we will get destroyed….and we will deserve it”. He was right, even though he ended up enabling it. This is what it looks like. And his heirs are sitting watching a superpower self-immolate thinking it will not effect them.

But what will be the consequences? Here are 3 in my view.

US weapon sales will plummet. This is a no-brainer. Who in their right mind is going to purchase weapons, the supply of which may be turned off when you need them the most? When Ukraine fired its first FP-7 into Russia, I assume the CEO of Lockheed Martin went away and quietly cried. Here is a replacement for the HIMARs system that wrecked the Russian army in the summer of 2022 when Ukraine was given six of them. Six! The FP-7 costs less, is just as good and isn’t subject to the mood swings of whichever mental pixie the US may elect in future. It’s just one system but you name any other significant one and the non US version has a full order book. This was already in progress after Donald said he would not sell the latest US systems to allies as “they may not be our allies in future”, but he just pissed on the ashes of the chance of it being saved. 

This will also tie into their currency, but I’ll get to that.

Space X will be replaced. The EU are already building a replacement system that isn’t under the control of a ketamine using idiot with a child-like understanding of geo-politics. It’s just one system but, like weapon systems, no one will trust their national security to US architecture and systems any longer than they have to.

Both of these are related to a deeper change in US policy.
