Belgium will allocate 500 million euros to Ukraine and resume the work of the embassy in Kyiv

Belgium plans to soon resume the work of the embassy in Kyiv and is preparing a new aid package for Ukraine in the amount of 500 million euros.

This was stated by Belgian Foreign Minister Sophie Wilmes, reports The Brussels Times .

After the meeting of the Council of EU Foreign Ministers in Luxembourg, Wilmes noted that the Belgian Foreign Ministry was preparing to open an embassy in Kyiv, which was closed and its staff evacuated in early March after the Russian troops invaded Ukraine.

In addition, Belgium announced the allocation of the third tranche in the amount of 500 million euros to the European Peace Fund to help Ukraine.

The head of the foreign policy department added that Belgium supports the fifth package of sanctions against Russia and Belarus and urged to expect the next series of sanctions in the near future.
