The Hungarian Prime Minister compared the attack on Trump to the assassination attempt on Slovakian Prime Minister Fico.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Friday that former US President Donald Trump and Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico were attacked for their “anti-war views”, Reuters reported .

The publication recalls that Fico was shot four times in an assassination attempt in mid-May, while Trump, the Republican candidate in the US presidential election in November, survived a shooting on July 13. Both are allies of Orban, a right-wing nationalist who has been in power since 2010.

“All these attacks are directed against anti-war, peace politicians. The pro-war forces are so agitated, tense, incited and organised that they are trying to remove from the stage, from the centre of political life, the forces that advocate peace,” Orban said.

As reported, Hungary’s prime minister, who earlier this month embarked on a self-styled “peace mission” to Ukraine that included a meeting with Trump, said the former president survived the attack because “God has plans for him” aimed at promoting peace. Orban’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, meanwhile, said Hungary views a potential second Trump term as a “chance for peace” in Ukraine.

“We have very good relations with those who work behind the president’s back to write his economic and foreign policy agenda. I can say that we are involved in the process of forming this agenda, there are several topics – such as family policy and stopping migration – where we are highly valued,” Orban said.
