President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with President of Finland, Alexander Stubb. The heads of state discussed the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine and the situation with Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
The Ukrainian leader informed about this in his Telegram channel. According to him, the conversation with his Finnish colleague was good. He also thanked for the consistent and resolute support of Ukraine.
“Alex shared the details of his meeting with President Trump. I congratulated Finland on the agreement concluded with the US on the joint construction of icebreakers, which will certainly add security in the Arctic,” Zelensky said.
They talked about security guarantees for Ukraine
The leaders discussed security guarantees for Ukraine, which is currently one of the most important priorities. Zelensky stressed that our country appreciates the US’s readiness to support these guarantees.
“We appreciate that America is ready to support them, and now it is very important to accelerate with European allies and put all the details on paper. We are preparing for active work within the coalition of the willing in October and November,” the president explained, adding that he coordinated joint steps with Stubb.
The Head of State also spoke about the preparation of a draft resolution of the UN General Assembly condemning the abduction and deportation of Ukrainian children. Ukraine is counting on its support from partners.
Russia strikes Ukraine’s energy sector again
In addition, Zelenskyy informed Stubb about the situation in the energy system.
“Russia has once again dealt a vile blow to our critical infrastructure. We understand all the intentions of the Russians. We will defend ourselves. I have asked the president to think about how Finland can help,” the Ukrainian leader emphasized.
As OBOZ.UA reported, according to the Finnish president, within the framework of security guarantees for Ukraine, Western states that join them will have to
fight Russia in the event of a new attack by Moscow. Without this, such guarantees will not be strong enough, and therefore will not be able to stop the Kremlin from new aggression.
