Cool!
Refurbished WWII fighters would be a great tool to go after those drones, or any others as of a certain size.
Watching that Therminator ground drone sure gives you a Terminator feeling.
Hmm, too fast, too thirsty and to unreliable nowadays, with serious spare parts issues, imho. A better fit would be modern propeller driven light attack planes with machine guns on wingpods. Like the Tucano from Embraer, which sadly is a Brazilian product (which may pose political problems). To increase shoot down rates, those planes should get thermal and acozstic sensors, night sights, plus KI-based automatic gun adjustment. This could be an efficient way to close gaps in the ground based air defence network. 😎
Of course, my statement was not meant to be serious, Mr. Gray. Those planes are also too rare and valuable to be used for such things.
Yeah, those air race pilots and WWII collectors would demand millions for a flight-ready Mustang, Corsair, or Hellcat. Not to speak of necessary maintenance for combat missions. Probably more expensive than for a F-16. 😕
Equipping a sport plane with a couple of machines guns on the wings would be cool enough. It would suffice to give you a little of that WWII dogfight feeling.
