After the defeat of “Slavyanin”, the Russians managed to restore the ferry crossing

The hijackers repaired the ferry, which had also been previously hit by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

After the Ukrainian Armed Forces hit the Slavyanin ferry in the Kavkaz port (RF), the Russian occupiers still managed to restore the ferry service. This was reported during the telethon by the representative of the Ukrainian Naval Forces, Captain 3rd Rank Dmitry Pletenchuk.

According to him, among the noticeable changes at sea, one can name the fact that the enemy managed to restore the crossing.

“This was done at the expense of one of the repaired ferries, which was damaged last time – it was hit by the Defense Forces. It is twice as small as the “Slavyanin” in terms of the number of carriages it can hold, but as you can see, they have no other choice,” the military man stated.

He also added that the presence of two submarines was recorded in the Black Sea in the morning – both of them are carriers of cruise missiles – the total salvo of “Kalibr” missiles could be 8 units. As Pletenchuk noted, it is possible that the submarines are being rotated, because one of them has been on duty for a long time.

He added that there are no new details about the damaged Russian submarine Rostov-on-Don, which the Defense Forces recently “retrieved” in the temporarily occupied Crimea. At the same time, he said that after its first defeat (in 2023), the invaders dragged the submarine to another place, where they hid it under camouflage. At the same time, Russian propagandists have repeatedly noted that this submarine will be repaired.

“The enemy had previously been hinted that Ukrainian Crimea could not be used as a repair base… Now, as last time, it has received significant damage… Details will be available later,” said a representative of the Ukrainian Navy.

He added that currently the Russian auxiliary fleet and ships remain in Crimea, which, for certain reasons, are unable to go to sea.

Strike on the ferry “Slavyanin” – details

On July 23, the governor of Krasnodar Krai accused Ukraine of attacking the ferry. That evening, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the successful destruction of the ferry “Slavyanin”, which the invaders used for military purposes. “Slavyanin” is a railway ferry, which is designed to transport railway cars along the Kerch Strait. Earlier, in May, two such ferries were significantly damaged – Avangard and Conro Trader. After the defeat of “Slavyanin”, there are no more ferries of this class in this region. It was said that the enemy only had car ferries left, which are designed to transport cars along the Kerch Strait.

Subsequently, the Ukrainian Navy reported that after this, all Russian ships disappeared in the Sea of Azov . The Ukrainian military linked this to the defeat of the Slavyanin.
