Ukrainian drone maker TAF Industries has agreed to establish its third joint venture for drone production, this time with Finland’s Summa Defence

The Ukrainian drone manufacturer TAF Industries continues to expand its network of partners for joint production. This time, it has reached an agreement on joint production with the Finnish group of companies Summa Defence.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the parties during TAF Industries Demo Day. The project is part of the Build with Ukraine initiative, under which Ukrainian companies provide innovations to scale up production abroad.

As for Summa Defence, this is not the first time it has been involved in drone production alongside Ukrainian partners. In 2024, there were reports of the establishment of a joint venture with Kort, Elf Systems, Skyassist, and MPS Development.

In December 2025, the Finnish company announced that it had delivered the first batch of Zeus drones from its subsidiary Summa Drones Oyj to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The company added that it plans to build capacity for the industrial-scale delivery of battle-tested solutions throughout 2026.

The Ukrainian company TAF Industries is one of the major suppliers of UAVs to the front lines, offering products specifically tailored to battlefield requirements. This includes FPV drones for striking ground targets, as well as repeaters, interceptors, and even fixed-wing reconnaissance drones.

This will open up new opportunities for Finland’s defense industry. Meanwhile, the joint venture will be able to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other defense forces through secure production facilities abroad.

TAF has already signed similar memorandums of understanding with two German companies, Thyra and Wingcopter. A total of ten joint-venture factories for the production of Ukrainian drones are expected to open in Europe this year.
