Former physical education teacher Olena Pyrozhenko, who was evacuated from temporarily occupied Oleshki , died in Kyiv . As Nadiya Shtanko, acting director of the municipal institution “Oleshkiv Support Educational Institution No. 4”, told “Suspilny” , the woman was 56 years old and died on November 6.

“This is our former teacher. She was bedridden. In the spring of 2026, her husband died in Oleshki. During a humanitarian mission, the woman was taken out of the city by ambulance. She died on November 6,” Shtanko said.

She said that Olena Pyrozhenko was professionally involved in sports, was a candidate for master of sports in track and field athletics, and was even a member of the national team of the then Soviet Union.

Shtanko also notes that colleagues and students remember the teacher as a kind, sincere and sensitive person. She knew how to support, listen and find an approach to children, which is why she was highly respected. This is evidenced by dozens of warm reviews and comments left by former students and colleagues after the news of her death.
