On the morning of May 8, a large-scale fire broke out at the KamAZ plant
in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny (Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation) . A huge column of black smoke is visible from different areas of the city.
The causes and circumstances of the fire are currently unknown, according to Russian Telegram channels.
Local residents confirm that the fire occurred on the territory of the Kamaz scientific and technical center. As of 10:00, local authorities and representatives of the enterprise had not provided any comments on this matter. However, eyewitnesses suggest that the fire broke out in the area of one of the workshops.
It is worth noting that the day before, an air alert was declared in the Republic of Tatarstan due to a UAV attack. However, it remains unknown whether the fire at the plant is related to the drone attack.
The Kamaz plant is engaged in the production of vehicles for the Russian occupation army. Back in 2014, an assembly shop was built in Naberezhnye Chelny specifically for military needs.

As a reminder, drones of the Security Service of Ukraine struck two key Russian defense plants on the night of May 7. The UAVs hit the Basalt plant in the Moscow region, which manufactures weapons and ammunition for the Russian army, and Splav in Tula, the only enterprise of the aggressor country that develops MLRS and cartridges.
As OBOZ.UA reported, Russia stated that Ukraine allegedly launched 447 long-range UAVs and missiles at Russia in the evening and night of May 7, which allegedly became the “most massive attack” on the aggressor country. Mobile Internet was disconnected in more than 30 Russian cities due to the threat of drone attacks.

From the looks of it, it’s not a small fire. There goes more precious mafia money up in smoke.
