Russia continues to strike Ukraine despite declared ceasefire

Donetsk, Cherkasy, and Sumy regions were under shelling.

Russia “marked” the three-day truce it had declared until May 9 with strikes on Ukrainian cities – the Donetsk, Cherkasy, and Sumy regions were under fire.

In particular, the Russian Federation attacked Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk region at night. According to local news channels , a 9-story residential building was hit. Previously, one person was rescued from the rubble.

The State Emergency Service also reports that in the evening, Uman region was under the sights of attack drones, one person was injured.

It is noted that infrastructure was damaged as a result of Russian aggression. In particular, the building of an educational institution was damaged. Windows in a residential building were broken. Also in Dmytrushka, a man was injured by UAV debris. He was taken to the hospital.

Russia also continues to strike Bilopille in Sumy region this morning. This was reported to “Suspilny” by the head of the community, Yuriy Zarko, at around 7 a.m. According to preliminary information, a woman was rescued from under the rubble.

As the State Emergency Service later reported , the enemy carried out airstrikes on the territory of the Bilopil community. As a result of the shelling, one residential building was completely destroyed, three more houses and seven outbuildings were damaged.

“During the inspection of the area, rescuers discovered a woman under the rubble. The victim was carefully unblocked and handed over to emergency medical workers,” the report says.

It is also noted that in the Sumy district, as a result of night shelling, fires broke out in three residential buildings. Unfortunately, one civilian died as a result of the shelling.

Putin’s Truce

Earlier, Putin announced a ceasefire from 00:00 on May 8 to 00:00 on May 11. Russia timed it to the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II.

President Zelensky responded to this statement by proposing a 30-day ceasefire instead and saying he could not guarantee the safety of foreign leaders coming to Moscow for the parade.

As Reuters reported , the Ukrainian Air Force reported that after the start of the ceasefire declared by the Kremlin, Russian aircraft launched guided bombs twice over the Sumy region.
