On the night of August 23, a huge warehouse complex caught fire in St. Petersburg. Within a few hours, the area of the fire increased several times – to over 80 thousand sq. m., and attempts to contain the fire were unsuccessful.
The cause of the fire is still unknown: there were no drone attacks at the time of its occurrence. The incident was reported by the Russian independent publication ASTRA.
What is known
The publication reported that as of 5 a.m. Sunday morning, a warehouse complex was on fire in St. Petersburg.
“Firefighters are extinguishing a fire at a warehouse in St. Petersburg, the press service of the Ministry of Emergencies reports. The area of the fire has increased from 22 to 82 thousand square meters in a few hours , according to reports from the Ministry of Emergencies. Information about the victims is being clarified,” the message states.
Residents of the city note that that night the local authorities did not announce a drone danger regime, and no sounds of UAVs or air defense systems were heard.
According to the Telegram channel Exile+, the warehouses of “Otvestvennoe hranenie Logistera” are on fire, located at the Izhorsky industrial site in Kolpino (St. Petersburg). According to the channel’s calculations, the area of the facility is about 79,200 sq. m – less than, according to official Russian data, has already been engulfed in fire.
“The facility was used for the responsible storage of goods and cargo, their reception, unloading, placement, assembly, labeling, packaging and subsequent shipment,” the message states.

Exilenova+, in turn, noted that the Izhora Industrial Site is a large industrial zone, where enterprises of heavy engineering, metallurgy, metalworking, as well as the production of equipment for the energy and nuclear industries are concentrated.

Based on eyewitness video recordings, the ASTRA OSINT analyst determined that at least one of these videos was filmed from a corner of the Ozon warehouse – it is located approximately 350 meters from the burning building (which is especially ironic, given that the Defense Forces destroyed the first warehouse of this marketplace – in the Samara region of the Russian Federation) the day before.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry gave the address of the burning complex: St. Petersburg, Pushkinsky District, Shushary Village, Kolpinskoye Highway, 135.
“Inside there are goods and products for various purposes,” they added.
It was in Shushary that one of the Wildberies warehouses was destroyed on July 24.

As OBOZ.UA reported, a major fire broke out in Taganrog, Russia, on August 22. Warehouses and a parking lot were burning there.
Also the day before, drones attacked targets in the Samara region and Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation; it is known that a port, a refinery, and the OZON logistics center were hit.

“The cause of the fire is still unknown: there were no drone attacks at the time of its occurrence.”
