The bodies of 20 people were found at the scene of a fire at the Aricell lithium-ion battery plant in the city of Hwaseong in South Korea, Yonhap reported, citing the fire service.
A total of 23 people are considered missing as a result of the fire. Firefighters believe they have found the bodies of 20 of them. The dead are believed to include foreigners, including Chinese citizens.
As the agency notes, it was previously reported that another worker was killed and three were injured as a result of the fire. It is not yet known exactly how many people died.
The fire started at the Aricell plant in Hwaseong at approximately 10:30 local time (04:30 Moscow time). Local television channels published footage of a burning plant, where explosions were heard. It is assumed that the batteries exploded, of which there were at least 35 thousand on the territory of the plant. Firefighters barely managed to control the fire by 15:10 local time (09:10 Moscow time) and get to the plant.
