Over the first seven months of this year, sales of new light commercial vehicles in the Russian Federation fell by 17.8%.

The BNM car plant in Bryansk, which was supposed to start serial production of copies of Chinese vans under the BNM Model 1 brand, has stopped production. This was reported by The Moscow Times with reference to the owner of the enterprise, Alexey Podshchekoldin .

The conveyor stop is due to unprofitability, expensive loans and falling sales of cars. Even Podshchekoldin’s personal BNM, which was assembled at the plant especially for the director, cannot be sold. It is offered for 2 million Russian rubles.

Since the launch of large-unit production in Bryansk in March of this year, only 110 vans have been produced.

We are talking about the BNM Model 1, which is a copy of the Chinese FAW T80 with a lifting capacity of up to 900 kg, as well as an analogue of the Chinese BAW T7 with a lifting capacity of 1500 kg.

It was planned that the enterprise would produce about 100 of these machines every month, but even these relatively modest plans could not be realized.

It should also be noted that in the first seven months of this year, sales of new light commercial vehicles in the Russian Federation fell by 17.8% year-on-year, to about 47 thousand units. The decline has been observed for six months in a row.

The Russians were unable to start mass production of the new Lada Iskra sedan on time – it was postponed until 2026. Officially, sales of the model started on July 20, but last month only 21 registered cars appeared in the Russian State Traffic Safety Inspectorate database.

And earlier it became known that AvtoVAZ will shorten the working week in order to survive. The main problem, according to Russians, is the high interest rates of the central bank, which lead to a decrease in the “appetite” for car loans, and also increase production costs.
