For 32 families, this is important news after months of uncertainty and waiting
Confirmed data on the captivity of 32 military personnel of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine has been officially entered into the Unified Register of Persons Missing under Special Circumstances . They were previously considered missing. This was reported by the Commissioner for Persons Missing under Special Circumstances, Artur Dobroserdov.
“All of them went missing during 2026: 16 in the Donetsk direction and 16 in the Kharkiv direction. The oldest among the servicemen whose captivity was officially confirmed was born in 1962, the youngest in 1998,” he noted.
According to him, 12 of the 32 fighters were previously considered missing. The Unified Register of Persons Missing in Special Circumstances did not contain any information indicating that they were in captivity.
“Regarding the other 20 servicemen, information about their possible captivity was previously established from other sources, in particular using OSINT technologies – search and analysis of information from open sources. Now this information has received official confirmation,” Dobroserdov added.
The official emphasized that these results prove that the lack of confirmed information today does not mean that work to establish it has been stopped.
“For 32 families, this is important news after months of uncertainty and waiting. At the same time, the work to search and verify information about other missing persons continues. We hope that this work will continue to help establish new information and give families the answers they are waiting for,” he emphasized.
Ukrainian prisoners of war – latest news
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine had returned home 10 servicemen who were considered missing. These are soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the National Guard of Ukraine. All of them were defending Ukraine in the Donetsk region.
“It is very important that we managed to return them. Thank you to everyone who works every day to return our people. We remember each and every one who remains in captivity. We are searching by every last name. And we will do everything to free them and return them home,” the leader emphasized.
Also, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets, reported that almost all captured Ukrainians are subjected to systematic torture in Russian prisons.
“Virtually all methods of torture set out in the Istanbul Protocol are applied to Ukrainian prisoners of war. The actual classification covers the 21 most common methods of torture,” he added.
