17 Democratic congressmen of the US House of Representatives have sent a letter to Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, demanding that the decision to suspend the supply of ammunition and weapons to Ukraine be revoked.
As Censor.NET reports , Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, the author of the letter, wrote about this on the X platform .

“Now is not the time to cut our aid. We must respond to Putin’s brutal attack with the weapons that Ukraine needs for self-defense,” he emphasizes.
The letter, signed by the congressmen, states that the supply has been stopped for now :
- anti-aircraft missiles to Patriot (PAC-3);
- 155 mm artillery shells;
- GMLRS shells for HIMARS;
- missiles for MANPADS Stinger;
- AIM-7 Sparrow air-to-air and AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-ground guided missiles.
“This decision endangers Ukraine, emboldens Vladimir Putin, and sows doubt among our closest allies. We urge you to reverse this decision and redouble your support for Ukraine in its fight for its future,” the congressmen urged.
The letter was signed by Senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Peter Welch (D-VT), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), as well as House Representatives Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), Jason Crowe (D-CO), Salud Carbajal (D-CA), Joe Courtney (D-CT), Chris DeLuzio (D-PA), John Garamendi (D-CA), Jared Golden (D-ME), Chrissy Hoolahan (D-PA), Donald Norcross (D-NJ), Austin Scott (R-GA), Marilyn Strickland (D-Washington), and Maggie Goodlander (D-NH).
The lawmakers added that while the Trump administration has repeatedly stressed the need to redirect resources to the Indo-Pacific region, Russia “remains the most dangerous and urgent threat to our security and the security of our allies.”
The lawmakers also ask Hegseth to hold a closed briefing and provide written answers to the following questions by July 31 :
- What specific weapons and ammunition planned for delivery to Ukraine were suspended as a result of this decision?
- Where exactly is this ammunition being redirected to?
- Are there any plans to redirect other ammunition? If so, where?
- According to the Ministry of Defense’s estimates, how long will Ukraine be able to maintain the current pace of spending these ammunition before its stocks run out?
The congressmen also noted that the administration’s “peace through strength” approach requires us to use our strength.
“Ukraine’s fight for freedom is not a hypothetical issue. It is happening right now, and we must be with them, providing the weapons they need to defend themselves.We urge you to reverse this decision and transfer the remaining $3.8 billion in assistance already provided under the President’s weapons seizure authority, as well as the remaining $300 million allocated under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative,” the letter states.
The signatories emphasize that Congress is prepared to provide funding to replenish ammunition stocks to prepare for future conflicts.
