💔 On this day a year ago, #Ukraine Hero Oleksandr Matsyievskyi was 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐭 by Russians. “𝐒𝐥𝐚𝐯𝐚 𝐔𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢!” were his last words.

One year ago, the world stood and watched in horror
As Russians 𝐦𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 yet another defenseless prisoner.
And even made a video of it for #SocialMedia

☝️ Oleksandr stood in a shallow 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞
One he had been forced to dig himself.

Yet he faced the enemy, refusing to bow down to the invaders,
And paid the ultimate price for his heroism.

❗ Many in the world swore to help Ukraine that day.
Shouting such 𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥 must be stopped.
Making grand speeches and hashtags.
Some even dared to say ‘Never Again’

🙏 Yet one year later, Ukraine is still fighting
Still bleeding, 𝐝𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 and still asking the world for weapons.
While too many in the West are still stalling.

One year later, Ukraine still has to convince the world that the russian war crimes caught on camera that day are happening every day.

And continue to happen every day.

The Ukrainian soldier of the 119th TDF, unarmed, who was captured during the battle of Bakhmut, looked the Russian soldiers in the eyes, took a last drag on his cigarette and uttered the legendary words “Slava Ukraini”. They then brutally shot Matsievskyi to death with automatic rifles from several sides. Matsievskyi, Hero of Ukraine, symbolizes bravery, the continuous struggle to maintain Ukraine’s sovereignty and never allow itself to be subjected to Russian imperialism. Let us not forget Matsievskyi, but also all those others who fell for defending a sovereign Ukraine.
