A year ago in social networks, a video of the killing of a Ukrainian prisoner of war was widely spread: a man in the uniform of the Ukrainian army, standing in a small pit pulls up a cigarette and says “Glory to Ukraine”, after which the Russians shoot him first in the head, and then stitch his body with bullets several more times.

The Security Service of Ukraine on March 12 this year called the name of the killed military. Hero Alexander Matsievsky is a sniper of the 163rd battalion 119 separate brigade trO Chernihiv region. Macievsky volunteered in teroboronu since the beginning of March 2022.
He helped build forts, chatted at checkpoints, prepared bottles of lukewarm, and whatever else needed to do in anticipation of enemy attacks.
Since March 11, he was enrolled in the Nizhyn battalion territorial defense forces and appointed a sniper.

The unit to which Matsievsky got into was deployed at one of the checkpoints in the region. And in the wake of changing the map of combat, the need for new units to maintain defense in eastern Ukraine has increased. In December, Alexander brought mother products and a bouquet of flowers, and reported that he was going to the front. As of December 8, he was already in Bakhmut – a city that became a war center, taking the lives of thousands of soldiers on both sides.

“Here he was for the first time in a real battle like many other fighters from his 163rd battalion,” – said senior lieutenant Alexander Galitsky, commander of the Macievsky platoon.
