Trump rules out boots on the ground. DT :-

Donald Trump has ruled out putting US boots on the ground to assist peacekeeping efforts in Ukraine.

Clarifying his position on US security guarantees in the event of a peace deal, Mr Trump said European nations “are going to frontload it”.

“They want to have boots on the ground,” he added, referring to France, Germany and the UK. “I don’t think it’s going to be a problem.”

Asked by Fox & Friends if he could give assurances that there won’t be US boots on the ground, Trump said “you have my assurance and I’m president”, adding: “I’m just trying to stop people being killed.”

Mr Trump also said “Ukraine is going to get a lot of land,” when asked about territorial negotiations, but did not clarify what that meant.

Mr Trump expressed optimism that a deal could be struck between Kyiv and Moscow, saying that he thinks Vladimir Putin is “tired of it”.

“We’re going to find out about President Putin in the next couple of weeks… it’s possible he doesn’t want to make a deal,” Mr Trump said.

“I hope President Putin is going to be good. And if he’s not, it’s going to be a rough situation.”

France, Britain and other European allies will lead a “reassurance force” with “several thousand” boots on the ground in Ukraine in the event that a deal is struck.

Sir Keir Starmer has affirmed that the UK will “play a full part” in any peacekeeping initiative, adding that European states will “need to do more” for the war-torn country.

      Who for, Ukraine or putler?

I have heard this phrase many times from TACO, with no results. I expect nothing to come of this latest appeasement plan.

  3. “I’m just trying to stop people being killed.”

Of course you are Donald, from 24 hours to 8 months and not a sniff of a ceasefire.
