President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted draft laws to the Ukrainian parliament to extend martial law and mobilization in Ukraine.

Details: The bills propose extending martial law and mobilization from 4 May 2026 for a further 90 days, until 2 August 2026.
Consequently, this will be the 19th time parliament has been asked to consider extending martial law and mobilization.
Background: Prior to this, Zelenskyy emphasized that the war with Russia will not end until Ukraine receives effective security guarantees and that martial law cannot be lifted until then.
Asked whether martial law could be lifted during a ceasefire, the president replied:
“First of all, we all want the war to end, and only then will martial law be lifted – and that is the only way. Martial law will be lifted at the moment when Ukraine has security guarantees. Without security guarantees, this war will not truly end; we will not be able to recognize that it has ended, because there would remain a risk of renewed aggression from such a neighbor.”

Ukraine will never receive any security guarantees. The only guarantee Ukraine can have is by destroying every oil refinery in mafia land.
