The President said that both the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office will operate

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the anti-corruption infrastructure will work, but without Russian influence. This statement was made in the head of state’s evening address .
“I spoke with the head of NABU Semen Kryvonos, SAPO prosecutor Oleksandr Klymenko, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk – various challenges. We discussed all this. The anti-corruption infrastructure will work. Only without Russian influences – everything needs to be cleaned of this. And there should be more justice,” he emphasized.
Zelensky added that both the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office will operate. According to him, the Prosecutor General “is determined to ensure that in Ukraine the inevitability of punishment for those who go against the law is actually ensured.”
“And this is what Ukraine really needs. Cases that have been pending must be investigated. For years, officials who fled Ukraine have been living peacefully abroad for some reason – in very pleasant countries and without legal consequences. This is abnormal. There is no rational explanation why criminal proceedings worth billions have been “hanging” for years. And there is no explanation why Russians can still receive the information they need. It is important that without Russians. It is important that there is inevitability of punishment and that society really sees this,” the president stated.
The Law on NABU and SAPO
As a reminder, on July 22, the Verkhovna Rada adopted Law No. 12414. It will grant the Prosecutor General’s Office powers over the work of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP). 263 deputies voted “in favor”.
The law was signed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the same day . It was later announced that it had been published in the official publication of the Verkhovna Rada, Holos Ukrainy. This means that it officially comes into force on July 23.

The connection to russia remains unclear to me and so does these bodies remaining independent. I’m willing to give Zelensky a little slack on this even though we may be feeding some nazis with microphones like Carlson and Solovyov……
I also want to give Zelensky some slack on this, but there is too little information to do so. So far, this step does not look good, and the foreign press and organizations, the EU, et al, also have slammed Ukraine for this. I do hope that he and the Rada have a viable plan on how to combat corruption more effectively, as he is claiming.
