Zelenskyy imposes sanctions on his former press secretary Mendel, she responded to this

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree imposing sanctions on his former press secretary, Yuliia Mendel. The Office of the President announced this on Sunday, September 13.

The document states that sanctions have been imposed on 10 russian and Ukrainian individuals for spreading disinformation and russian propaganda, as well as for supporting russia’s aggressive policy toward Ukraine. In particular, sanctions have been imposed on Zelenskyy’s former press secretary, Yuliia Mendel.

Mendel reacted almost immediately to the restrictions and stated that such actions would not change her position, especially since she had expected this reaction from her former boss.

“A few days before my speech in the European Parliament, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, my former boss, imposed sanctions against me. Sanctions against Ukrainian citizens are unconstitutional, just like many of Zelenskyy’s other decisions. Volodymyr Zelenskyy imposes them on anyone who advocates for peace in Ukraine. I knew that a ‘treason’ charge was being prepared in connection with my interview with Tucker Carlson and suspected that sanctions might be imposed. This does not change my position, nor the position of millions of Ukrainians. To survive, Ukraine needs peace, not yet another dictatorship—even if it is Zelenskyy’s dictatorship,” Mendel wrote.

It should be noted that the sanctions list includes 20 ships used by the aggressor to export oil, petroleum products, and liquefied gas. In addition, restrictions have been imposed on 29 russian citizens and 29 russian companies.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in May, Yuliia Mendel, the former press secretary for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, expressed suspicions in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that Volodymyr Zelenskyy might be using drugs.

In August, Mendel stated that President Zelenskyy is the main beneficiary of the war in Ukraine.
