  • The President discussed the situation in frontline regions, including Odessa, with SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk.

The Ukrainian leader announced that he would soon appoint a head of the military administration in Odesa. He said the city deserves greater protection and support.

Channel 24 reports this, citing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

What does Zelensky say about the military administration in Odessa?

The Ukrainian leader held a conversation with the head of the Security Service, Vasyl Malyuk. They discussed, among other things, the situation in frontline communities and in the southern part of the country, in Odesa.

Too many security issues in Odesa have gone unanswered for too long. All effective decisions will be made. I will appoint the head of the military administration in the near future,” the president said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Odesa deserves greater protection and support. This, he believes, can be achieved through a military administration.

What’s happening in Odessa?

  • As a reminder, on October 14, Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree revoking the Ukrainian citizenship of Odesa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, former Opposition Platform – For Life deputy Oleh Tsarev, and ballet dancer Sergei Polunin.
  • The Security Service reported that, as of now, the current mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, is a citizen of Russia and holds a valid passport from the aggressor country.
  • “Thus, according to available data, on December 15, 2015, after the aggression against Ukraine and the temporary occupation of Crimea, as well as parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, began, Gennady Leonidovich Trukhanov received a foreign passport from the occupying country. It was issued for 10 years and is currently a valid document,” the service’s statement reads.
  • Meanwhile , media reports indicate that Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, may become the head of the Odesa City Military Administration . However, there is no official information on this matter yet.

  1. Good. Maybe, just maybe, the corruption in Odessa can be more effectively combated, which is one of the country’s worst. And, its defenses might also be improved.

  2. I have no info about that famous ruSSian passport, but it remains to be seen if it was issued before or after ruSSia became hostile toward Ukraine IMHO.

    • Okay i just browsed the headlines. seems he applied for a pp after the hostilities began. That means he must be removed asap.

    • …It was issued for 10 years and is currently a valid document,” the service’s statement reads
Earliest it could have been issued is late 2014 early 2015 at which time rashists had already demonstrated their hostility towards Ukraine.

      • Yes. I already posted a correction before your response. I’m out for a dinner with my gurl and only browsed the headlines. The photo is intriguing indeed.

      • I read Veth’s earlier article stating he refused that citizenship but ruSSia ignored it. Needs to be seen if this is not a ruSSian attempt to compromise him. I’m still sceptical.
