Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the US Senate’s passage of the late Senator Lindsey Graham’s bill to tighten sanctions against Russia and Iran. In particular, Zelenskyy thanked the US for their support of Ukraine on his Telegram channel .
He also believes that pressure on Russia could help end the war in Ukraine:
“We are very grateful to the US Senate and everyone who supports Ukraine. The passage of Lindsey Graham’s sanctions bill against Russia and Iran certainly helps increase pressure on the aggressor to end this insane Russian war against our independence and our people.
The Ukrainian President emphasized that the country appreciates all the support provided by the United States – from both parties and the entire American people.
“And now, when Putin is making his final bet on prolonging the war with ballistic missiles, and when we are desperately seeking Patriot missiles for our defense, all signals in support of protecting life and in support of a swift end to the war are extremely important,” Zelensky noted.
In his opinion, “really strong pressure from the US and sanctions against Russia are what will help the most.”
“Diplomacy is getting closer with every step of pressure on the aggressor,” he emphasized.
The President of Ukraine once again thanked all those who understand this and promote peace through force.
US sanctions against Russia: latest news
UNIAN previously reported that the US administration imposed sanctions on eight Cuban officials, including high-ranking military officers collaborating with Russia and China. A State Department fact sheet indicated that most of these individuals were involved in attempts to organize arms shipments from China and Russia.
The International Society for Human Rights and other organizations have identified Gomez as a person involved in recruiting Cubans to fight in Russia’s war against Ukraine. However, the Havana government denied any involvement in transporting mercenaries to the front lines.
We also reported that, according to the US State Department, sanctions have been imposed against several structures of the Russian Ministry of Defense , as well as two Russian companies and five Russian citizens. These sanctions target the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the 1061st Logistics Center of the Russian Armed Forces, the Directorate for Advanced Interservice Research and Special Projects of the Russian Ministry of Defense, and the Russian Ground Forces. Notably, these restrictions apply to any legal successors, divisions, or subsidiaries of these structures. The US also imposed sanctions against two Russian companies.

I would friendly suggest you try to be fair…for Ukraine’s sake.
It’s not that those Senators “didn’t support Ukraine”. They were opposed to granting more tariff authority to someone who has already been shown to abuse the privilege. You might recall that in June, Democrats passed a separate bill offering military support to Ukraine and sanctions on Russia, called the Ukraine Support Act, with only four Republicans.
As has been mentioned here previously, Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY), the author of that bill, has argued against the Graham Russia sanctions bill.
“This is not so much a sanctions bill as it is a massive backdoor authority for President Trump to impose more tariffs,” he said shortly after the bill’s introduction.
“The sanctions the bill does contain are entirely at Donald Trump’s discretion, and he has made clear repeatedly that he would rather waive sanctions on Russia than impose new ones.”
As has also been mentioned here previously, Elizabeth Warren stated that she has supported tougher sanctions against Russia for a year and a half, but she joined 11 other senators in voting against the procedural motion to advance the legislation because of concerns over the broad tariff authority it grants the executive branch.

I will still vote for Democrats. This one bill won’t change my mind about the former GOP. Unless I see an impeachment and conviction by Congress or the invocation of the 25th Amendment, the former GOP is dead.

They all (with the exception of Rand Paul) want sanctions on Iran. But a bill that allows a ruSSian agent to control whether sanctions are applied is not much use. And when it includes other things that are bad for the country, it *should* be voted against.
Consider if the republicans introduced a bill that called for sanctions on ruSSia and also made trumpkov president for life. Naturally, all Democrats would vote against it. The MAGAts would then claim that the Democrats were voting against Ukraine, while those people who are not delusional and not in the cult would fully understand their reason for voting against it.
Recall that the *original* Graham-Blumenthal bill could have been passed a year ago, but republicans held it back because TACO *might* do something in 50 days.
