I examine the U.S. invitation to Vladimir Putin for the December G20 summit near Miami and the central strategic dilemma it creates: could access to Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky, and other leaders produce a monitored ceasefire, captive returns, or a halt to energy strikes—or would it rehabilitate Putin while Russia continues the war? Zelensky argues that Putin needs visible victories for his domestic audience, while Moscow still says no prerequisites exist for a real peace track.

I also assess Ukraine’s proposal for a reciprocal halt to attacks on energy infrastructure, its urgent request for Patriot interceptors ahead of winter, and Zelensky’s warning that North Korean personnel are learning drone operations through Russia’s war.
