Zelensky promised a long-range response to Russia’s massive strike on Kyiv

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that for a significant part of the day on August 20, work continued in Kyiv and the region — in Boryspil, Brovary — after the Russian strike.

He said this in an evening address,  Censor.NET reports .

About the Russian strike itself

According to the president, the strike was a combination: a lot of ballistics, cruise missiles, and drones. He noted that the most difficult situation right now is with ballistics.

” If the percentage of cruise missiles shot down in this strike is about 90%, then the situation with ballistics is much worse. We need missiles for the Patriots, this is something that only our partners can provide ,” Zelensky said.

The President emphasized that this is not about gifts, but about Ukraine’s willingness to purchase weapons, and this requires appropriate political decisions from partners, primarily in the United States.

Consequences of the impact

Zelensky reported that 16 people were killed and almost 50 more were injured as a result of this Russian strike . More than two hundred objects were damaged, including 86 houses, a children’s hospital, social infrastructure and trade facilities. The President expressed condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased and thanked everyone who helps Ukraine defend and save people’s lives.

Promise of an answer

” We will definitely respond to this Russian strike in the same way as to other Russian strikes – we will respond quite fairly and far-reachingly. Ukrainian long-range capability will receive even more resources ,” Zelenskyy summed up.
