According to Levitt, Trump is “disappointed.”

US President Donald Trump is disappointed with the pace of talks to end the war in Ukraine. At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is “moving in the wrong direction” on the issue of negotiations.

This statement was made by White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt. According to her, Trump’s patience is “running out.”

“He wants to do what’s right for the world. He wants to see peace. He wants the killing to stop, but that requires both sides of the war to want it. And unfortunately, President Zelensky seems to be moving in the wrong direction,” she was quoted as saying by  Reuters .

Levitt also emphasized that Trump did not ask Ukraine to recognize Crimea as part of the Russian Federation.

“As President Trump rightly pointed out, it was President Obama who allowed Russia to seize Crimea in 2014. The President is not asking Ukraine to recognize Crimea. No one asked them to. He is asking that the parties come to the negotiating table, recognizing that this war has been brutal for too long. To make a good deal, both sides have to leave a little dissatisfied,” the White House spokeswoman continued. 

Levitt also criticized President Zelensky for “trying to conduct these peace talks through the press.” According to her, this is “unacceptable for the president,” and the negotiation process should take place behind closed doors.

“The president’s national security team, his advisors, have invested significant time, energy and effort to end this war. American taxpayers have funded billions of dollars in this effort. And enough is enough. The president is frustrated. His patience is running out,” said Caroline Levitt.
