Zelensky: if I were Lukashenko, I would hold new presidential elections in Belarus

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky told Euronews that in the place of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, he held new presidential elections to resolve the crisis in the country.

“Let’s imagine that I am confident in myself, I am confident in the choice of the people. I am a confident person. How can you calm everyone down?

I would definitely say: in a month there will be new elections. I’m going. Go who wants to. International observers – I would invite everyone, everyone. And I would say to the people of Belarus: please choose. And after such a result, no one would have questions.

I am sure about that. If Alexander Grigorievich had won, he would have won. And if someone else would win, then someone else would. But everything would be calm, without blood, honestly and would have gone down in history, ”Zelensky said in an interview fragment that Euronews showed.

  1. Would these new elections be as rigged as the ones held past year in Ukraine? Ukrainian media is 90% controlled by oligarchs and political organizations. Not an inviting environment to hold free and fair elections. Same goes for Belarus, where all critical media is blocked or shut downe.

  2. New (real) elections would be in order for Ukraine too, to get rid of a gross incompetent Ruskie anus crawler and traitor.

  3. Minsk police department: provocations are being prepared at protest actions
The head of the Municipal Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee Ivan Kubrakov recorded a video message with an appeal not to gather for mass actions – he calls them illegal. “We have information about upcoming provocations,” Kubrakov says.

  4. Zelensky showing his naivety and incompetence in one short statement. Why does Zelensky not say the same to Putin?

  5. In Grodno on all radio stations twist statement local prosecutor’s office that participation in unauthorized actions – illegal.

  6. Ivan Alekseev wrote an Instagram post in support of the protesters:

Today is a big day in Belarus – a protest that can influence the fate of the country and people. A protest that gives hope for a bright future and liberation from an oppressive regime.

He is not against Russia and not for the West. For people and their right to live, against violence, murder and rape.

Even propagandists and security officials cannot tolerate this and go over to the side of good.

Belarusians are a fraternal and courageous people, to whom I wish courage!

    Believe you can, win!

  7. “You will no longer deal with the police, but with the army.”
The Ministry of Defense of Belarus published an appeal (or a threat, depending on how you read it) to the protesters in the Telegram channel . The ministry reports that the military are taking under protection and protection the memorials and monuments created in memory of those killed in the Great Patriotic War – and will not tolerate “disturbances of order and tranquility” around them.

Separately, the Ministry of Defense is indignant at the white-red-white flags used by the opposition: “We cannot calmly watch how under the flags under which the Nazis organized the massacres of Belarusians, Russians, Jews, representatives of other nationalities, today rallies are organized in these sacred places … We cannot allow this to happen! ”

  8. In Gomel, the authorities occupied the traditional gathering point of protesters near the circus – there they organized an exhibition of works by a children’s art school. And on Lenin Square there is an exhibition of trucks, combines and asphalt pavers.

  9. On Independence Square, the loudspeakers not only broadcast that the audience is breaking the law, but also include the song of Joseph Kobzon “In the City Garden”, “Nasha Niva” notes .

  10. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov – on the situation in Belarus: “external forces”, “provocations from the outside”, “destabilization”.

    • Zelensky may yet end up like Lukashenko. He should be careful what he says. He should just say the people have spoken and Lukashenko should begin his retirement in Moskovia…
