Zelensky hopes for increase in US military assistance to Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelensky hopes for an increase in US military and security assistance to Ukraine.

He made a corresponding statement during a meeting with the US Congress delegation led by Senator Jim Inhofe within the framework of the 56th Munich Security Conference.

“Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the great importance of the military and security assistance that Ukraine receives from the United States, and expressed hope for an increase in its volume and scope,” the press service of the Head of State reports.

The President also expressed gratitude for bipartisan strong support of the US Congress for Ukraine. He also thanked Jim Inhofe for the important efforts of the United States in providing such steadfast support.

“I feel a very positive attitude of the United States of America towards Ukraine. The U.S. support is very important to us,” the President of Ukraine stressed.

The Head of State noted that Ukraine was committed to democratic reforms and effective anticorruption policies.

“We started the reforms in the law enforcement system. The Prosecutor General’s Office was rebooted, there is a large qualifying examination of prosecutors, several thousand prosecutors were dismissed. They are tested for integrity and professionalism. We have also initiated many economic reforms. But this is just the beginning,” Volodymyr Zelensky assured.

The parties also discussed the reform of the security and defense sector, in particular, the defense industry according to the standards of NATO member states.

“We will have a complete reboot of Ukroboronprom so that Ukrainian defense enterprises are efficient, modern and transparent. If there are problems, we are constantly available and ready to solve all the issues,” the President of Ukraine emphasized.

He informed the U.S. lawmakers of the progress of negotiations on the peaceful settlement in Donbas and expressed interest in greater involvement of the US in this issue.

Volodymyr Zelensky invited U.S. investors to Ukraine and told about new protection and support programs for business development.

  1. US investments are very important. Ukraine has a huge potential, and geographically she is well suited. Give the great people of Ukraine a chance to prove themselves. Glory to Ukraine!

    • There is plenty of money available. Israel receives $3.7 Bn/yr. Iraq $3.7 Bn, Jordan $1.4 Bn, Egypt $1.4 Bn, Ethiopia $1.1 Bn, Kenya $1 Bn, South Sudan $924m, Syria (?!) $890m, Nigeria $851m, Pakistan $836m etc etc, plus hundreds of $millions to other shit countries like Uganda, Yemen, Somalia.
      Ukraine gets $506m.

      • I understand the strategic intentions, but all above could be cut in half and money be given to invest in Ukraine and the Baltic States. But Syria, Sudan, Pakistan and Somalia should not get any money at all.

        • Skimming an additional $1.5 Bn off that money being wasted on shithole countries would bring the total up to $2 Bn and give the Ukrainians a fighting chance.

        • Britain, a much smaller economy, spends a whopping £14 Bn/ year on overseas aid; 0.7 % of GDP. Recipients are largely shithole countries that hate us. It seems that we prefer throwing money down the drain to them than helping friendly countries in dire need. The amount we pay out is slightly more than the entire police budget for England and Wales. Outrageous! I am unable to find out how much we give to Ukraine, but it is approximately half of what America provides.

  2. Off topic: Unian no longer seems to be covering that story from yesterday about a Ukrainian boat being taken by the occupier. Maybe it was reported in error?
