  1. Such a total shakeup of command structures is a risky move at a time when the troops are already facing a lot of difficulties. This increasingly looks like the president, with zero experience in the military, is micromanaging the army. All this, allegedly, to enforce bolder moves in 2024, despite a fatal shortage of ammunition, which isn’t even sufficient for defence. Which leads me to seriously ask: Is Zelensky on drugs?

  2. Let’s not forget what the really urgent problems are right now: A shortage of ammo and of soldiers.
“Short on Soldiers, Ukraine Debates How to Find the Next Wave of Troops”

These are the issues that the president unavoidably needs to solve! But instead of finally coming to politically inconvenient decisions that he has already delayed for way too long, he fools around reorganizing the army. That’s like putting the horse behind the carriage. Has Zelensky lost his grip on reality?

  3. These moves bring back lessons from history. Both Stalin and Hitler used purges to strengthen their hold on power. Hitler later got involved in military matter directly, thinking that he was a better general than his generals. Germany had some of the finest officers in the world, but Hitler destroyed their capabilities by inserting his layman competencies in military planning. Hitler was worth an entire additional allied army group, someone once said, simply due to his strategic and tactical mistakes. For Ukraine’s sake, I hope we aren’t currently seeing a repeat of such history.

    • At least Hitler did serve in WW1. Zelensky as far as I know, has never served a minute in the armed forces.

      • Right. His experiences as a student of law and a comedian are helpful for modern politics, but nothing enables him to second guess the qualified decisions by military experts like Zaluzhny. Especially his weird call for bold moves, at a time when the defence is crumbling before his own eyes, is very disturbing.
