Ukrainian president Zelensky could stay in power almost indefinitely.
Martial law and the constitution allow him to rule for as long as he desires. Elections cannot take place during a war. So Ukrainians are excluded from the Democratic process as long as martial law is in place.
Despite all corruption scandals in Zelensky’s administration and the firing of Fedorov, Zelensky can feel safe.
The fact that putin allegedly hates him, makes it even easier for him to crack down on opposition, since all critics will be labeled pro-russia.
Yet Fedorov and Zaluzhny would both defeat Zelensky in a direct presidential run-off.
In my view, Ukraine is sandwiched by two corrupt ex-soviet politicians who both need the war to continue to stay in power. Therefore a peace in the name of human life cannot be expected anytime soon.
The strikes on russian warehouses look nice on YouTube, but will not relieve Ukrainian soldiers in their trenches.
I spent twelve years online on our website to report about hope, corruption and cruelties. I’ve grown tired. Where is the change? Where is the turnaround? Where is the peace and the will to compromise? If i don’t have good cards i simply can’t go all in!

Back in February, after constant trumputler pressure, Zel offered elections in return for a permanent ceasefire. A very reasonable offer.
He did not mention the fact that putlerstan is run by “a dictator who runs sham elections.” (John McCain quote).
Putler wasn’t interested.
He wants to continue his genocide a) because he likes it, b) he’s got Krasnov on team putler and c) he knows that Europe is weak and divided.
Under the current Ukrainian constitution it would take almost eight months until elections could be held after the end of martial law. May be the reason why putler rejected the offer (?)
The reason he rejected it is because he’s determined to take all the Donbas and murder as many innocent Ukrainian civilians as possible. He’s got Krasnov on his side.
He will not stop until he achieves what he has set out to do, or is defeated by Ukraine. Or killed by his own scum.
Should he take Donbas militarily, he would agree to a ceasefire, which will have all the value of all his other ceasefires.
Ukraine has no option but to fight on.
I think if putler would get the rest of Donbas he would gladly agree to a peace deal or at least a ceasefire. RuSSia is seriously butthurt and the elites have enough as well as the ordinary ruSSians. I just keep praying for peace.

Well, sure – if some fool were to gift him Ukraine’s “fortress zone” without a fight, he’d be more than happy to agree to a ceasefire. That would give him time to rebuild his army and accumulate weapons so that he could take over the rest of Ukraine.
Fortunately, President Zelenskyy isn’t that stupid.
This ‘fortress’ could be rebuilt through a partial new mobilization and fresh blood creating a new fortress behind the border of Donbas, before giving up the original one. But, hey, i’m just an idiot praying for peace…
You’re not an idiot Mike. Idiots do not pray. All the same, we should respect the people of Ukraine who still largely support Zelensky.
