Ukraine could exchange People’s Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk from Russia for other Ukrainians if he had Russian citizenship.
This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with ICTV channel .
According to him, Medvedchuk is now a citizen of Ukraine and Ukrainian legislation applies to him.
“On the other hand, if, for example, Russia would confirm that Mr Medvedchuk has Russian citizenship, for example, let’s say, it is quite possible, then we would be happy, after this confirmation, or at least a hint, to consider the possibility of exchanging Mr Medvedchuk on real heroes and citizens of Ukraine who are not in Ukraine, “Zelensky said.
Zelensky also objected that Russia somehow hinted or directly offered to give Medvedchuk peace of mind in exchange for any concessions.https://www.youtube.com/embed/BsMHv3ujEv8?start=254
Cases against Medvedchuk
In Ukraine, Medvedchuk was announced on October 8 on suspicion of high treason and aiding terrorism . We are talking about his participation in 2014-2015 in illegal schemes for the purchase of coal in the occupied Donbass. In this case, he was chosen as a preventive measure – round-the – clock house arrest .
Earlier, on May 11, Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova signed a message on the suspicion of Medvedchuk and MP Taras Kozak from the “OPSZ” of high treason and an attempt to plunder national resources in the occupied Crimea.
They announced suspicion for three episodes: illegal transfer of a gas field to the Russian Federation; providing the Russian special services with information containing state secrets (about a secret unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine); conducting subversive activities against Ukraine – preparing a network of Russian influence in Ukraine called “Luch”.
In this case, Medvedchuk was chosen as a preventive measure – round-the-clock house arrest. Kozak is located outside Ukraine.

It’s probably not a good idea to do an exchange for Medvedchuk. The reason is that the putinazis could decide simply to take more hostages for a future exchange. That’s they way their evil, twisted minds work.
It always works that way. It’s a part of fallen human nature to take advantage of the rubes.
