President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky appointed Colonel General Alexander Syrsky as the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He announced this in his official Telegram channel. “Starting today, a new management team is taking over the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I want the vision of the war to be uniform among our soldiers in Rabotino or Avdiivka, and at the General Staff and at headquarters,” he said in denial.
The President noted that he had dozens of conversations with commanders at various levels, in particular with Brigadier Generals Andrei Ignatov, Mikhail Drapaty, Igor Skibyuk and Colonels Pavel Palisa and Vadim Sukharevsky.
“All of them are being considered for leadership positions in the army and will serve under the leadership of the most experienced Ukrainian commander. He has successful experience in defense – he conducted the Kiev defensive operation. He also has successful experience in offensive – the Kharkov liberation operation. I appointed Colonel General Syrsky as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Forces of Ukraine . Today I spoke with generals Moysyuk and Zabrodsky. Their experience is in the service of the state,” Zelensky said.
He believes that 2024 can be successful for Ukraine only if there are effective changes in the basis of defense.

Yeah, what an idiotic mistake. Didn’t the backlash against a replacement show him that this would be a very wrongheaded move? That’s not the way to win this war. Not even the best general in known history could change the hard facts that kept Ukraine from winning. It’s rather Zelensky who failed, by not being able to convince Nato states to do more to support Ukraine. To try to make Zaluzhny the scapegoat instead is pathetic.
RuSSia never planned a full-scale invasion while Petro was in charge. I’m beginning to wonder why. Is Zelensky a traitor?
I don’t think such conspiracy theories are helpful now, Mike. Anyway, a traitor would have surrendered to Russia on the first days.

Ok, Mike, but Zelensky did very much right in the first year when a traitor would have delayed or avoided decisions. That has cost Putin hundreds of thousands of troops, among them many of his best soldiers, and reduced combat strength of the Russian army decisively. So, imho this theory is rather farfetched.
We may never know the truth.
That slaughterer Syrsky? At a time when manpower is already running short in the AFU? That’s a bad decision and may be the moment Zelensky lost the war.
