Zelensky announced the creation of underground factories for the production of weapons

The president explained such a move by the fact that Ukraine should be able to provide itself with weapons during delays in supplies from Western partners.

Against the backdrop of delays in the delivery of military aid from Western allies, Ukraine will begin the production of its own weapons underground.

This statement was made by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. “We will start producing weapons underground so that Ukrainian soldiers can defend themselves even when deliveries from our partners are delayed,” he said.

The idea of Ukraine increasing its own weapons production was also approved by US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin at a meeting in Ramstein. He assured that the allies will continue to help Ukraine “oppose Russian aggression today and deter it tomorrow.”

Zelenskyi also noted that Ukraine is gradually moving the war back to the Russian Federation so that Putin feels the pressure and still starts looking for peace.

Zelensky again demanded from allies to increase Ukrainian air defense capabilities. He thanked them for the systems they had received, but noted that a large number of the promised anti-aircraft guns had not yet been delivered.

“There are enough air defense systems in the world to guarantee the ineffectiveness of Russian terror. I urge you to be more active in this work with us regarding air defense,” the head of state said.

It will be recalled that at the beginning of May, the Spanish newspaper El Mundo wrote that Ukraine has built a secret network of underground factories for the production of weapons. Sources of the publication claimed that Ukrainian factories were moved underground due to large-scale destruction at the beginning of the war. Some factories are completely underground, others are camouflaged.

Air defense systems for Ukraine

On September 4, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz accepted the delivery of the advanced IRIS-T air defense system to the German armed forces and confirmed an order for 17 units for Ukraine to help repel Russian missile attacks.

And yesterday it became known that Spain will immediately send a battery of the HAWK air defense complex to Ukraine. According to the Spanish Ministry of Defense, one battery includes 6 launchers for hitting air targets.

  1. Ukrainian troops deploy ‘flying’ Kalashnikov rifle in first strike against Russian position — Bild

A group of Ukrainian engineers, known as Wild Hornets, has equipped a drone with a Kalashnikov rifle for the first time and used it against a Russian position, according to a report by the German tabloid Bild.

The drone is operated from a bunker several kilometers away and autonomously “pulls the trigger” when the target comes into view. It is not yet known whether this will go into mass production or its potential scale.

The AK-47 was mounted on a quadcopter and flown into action. It was first used against Russian positions in mid-August.

“Our military continues to develop the Hornet Queen with automatic weaponry. This time, it saw its first combat use — against a position with Russian troops. This test showed the direction this project should take,” the Wild Hornets page stated.

    • One of the problems that have been encountered is the drone being bounced around during recoil. Using electronic method to fire the projectile would help to stabilize for better accuracy.

      • It appears to no longer be manufactured.

“Metal Storm requested their shares be suspended from trading on 20 July 2012.[21] As of 26 July 2012, the company has been placed in voluntary administration.[21]

In late 2015, DefendTex, an Australian-based defence R&D company, acquired the intellectual property, trademarks and other assets of Metal Storm with a view to the continued development and commercialisation of the technology.[22]

In July 2018, DefendTex entered a joint partnership to provide weapon pods for the experimental Cerberus UAV.[23]

In August 2022, DefendTex sold 300 D40 kamikaze drones to the Australian Government, who then donated them to the Ukrainian Ground Forces.”

I wonder how those drones have shaped up?
